First day of school and Halloween

We have been busy!  We have been adjusting to having the girls at First Good Shepherd, which is downtown, so a half hour drive to drop them off and pick them up.  That leaves not very much time with them at home in the evening and lots of driving time.  Nate drops them off since middle school starts school later this year than high school, and I pick them up.  Once we have a larger car, it would be possible to carpool with other people, but that's a bit in the future for us.  On the weekends, Nate had soccer sometimes, every other Saturday we go to pick up our Bountiful Basket (a co-op for produce), or we are going somewhere it seems like.  It was nice to have Nevada Day off this weekend so we had a day off for Halloween.  I am looking forward to November and December which seems like there is more school days off than there are actually in session.

Addison has grown up so much since the first day of school.  She is much more independent and she can say more words:  Mama, Doggy, Bubble, Dada (I think), Baby, Hi, and Look.  She can shake her head no and likes to throw things if we give her something she doesn't want.  She also waves hi and bye.

Daddy's soccer season is over, for which we are all grateful.  The girls will be happy to have him back most nights now.  The bright spot this year was that Nate always takes them to school so they do get to see him every day.  We didn't make it out to many games this year since it takes so long to get them from school and back.

Here's a Halloween picture.  I have better ones of them in their costumes but can't access them right now.  This year we didn't go to a trunk or treat because we missed the one we went to last year (I had the wrong date for it).  But we went around the neighborhood...and after going around just the perimeter and one street, their baskets were full.  Most people assumed we were collected candy for ourselves in Addison's basket, but little did they know she has quite a sweet tooth.  Every time Braelyn has a piece of candy, she has to have one.  I think the candy is going to go away rather quickly.  Some houses were nice and gave away packets of pretzels or veggie straws or fruit snacks.  That is the way to go!  Only one house in our neighborhood had a teal pumpkin out for food allergies (if you had a pumpkin painted teal in front of your house, you had treats for kids who had food allergies...generally non-food treats).  We didn't pass anything out at our house as it took both of us to take the girls around, but eventually we will and I hope to just pass out non-food treats.  Or maybe something like fruit snacks with a toy.

We had a Little Red Riding Hood (who took off her hood about halfway through trick or treating) and a bug.  It's supposed to be a butterfly costume but the people who handed it down to us didn't hand down the wings.  Braelyn didn't do quite as well this year at saying thank you or trick or treat.  Addison did wave bye to a few people.
